Job Opportunity:
Smurfit Westrock is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Flexographic Operator to join our production team in Mississauga. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, dependable, mechanically inclined, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing environment.
Candidates must be flexible and available to work on either shift:
- Day Shift (35 hrs)
- Afternoon Shift (35 hrs)
- Midnight Shift (36 hrs)
Overtime and weekend work may be required.
What you will be doing:
- Prioritize safety and follow all plant health and safety rules, policies, and PPE requirements
- Operate and maintain flexographic presses and related equipment
- Perform setups, changeovers, and job preparation
- Monitor print quality, registration, and color consistency
- Troubleshoot press and production issues to reduce downtime
- Follow SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards
- Complete production, waste, and downtime documentation
- Perform preventative maintenance and maintain housekeeping
- Work collaboratively with team members and department leads
- Participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives
- Report equipment concerns and safety hazards promptly
What you need to succeed:
- Minimum 2–3 years of flexographic printing experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Experience with Martin Automatic equipment and AVT systems preferred
- Die cutting experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Professional attitude with strong attendance and punctuality
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, inks, and solvents
