General Description
The E3 – Engineer is a fully qualified and accredited engineering professional who applies theoretical and practical knowledge to provide engineering design, estimating, planning, and quality management services for low to medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.
Overview
- Review test results for telecom equipment during commissioning
- Produce Test Report Cover Sheets (TRCS)
- Review Commissioning Engineering Standards
- Support the team in other project-related activities
Experience & Role Accountabilities
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent
- Develop safe engineering solutions using initiative and judgement to perform activities such as developing designs, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on low to medium complexity assignments for projects and/or operations
- Assist project or operations management to meet safety, cost, quality, and schedule objectives through activities including:
- Proposing changes in plans and estimated costs
- Recommending payment for contractor work completed
- Preparing progress reports
- Coordinating work schedules
- Supporting other related project tasks
- Participate in engineering practice by:
- Conducting independent studies and analysis
- Exercising judgment in selecting and interpreting information
- Recommending safe engineering designs
- Making decisions related to standard methods and designs
- Supporting engineering standards compliance
- Perform periodic independent tasks including on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance
- Engage with senior engineering teams where problems are difficult, complex, or unusual to support engineering risk management
Must-Have Qualifications
- Commissioning experience
- Networking / IP knowledge
- Telecom engineering background preferred (electrical engineering background will also be considered)
- Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) equipment knowledge
Education & Professional Requirements
- University graduate in Applied Science or Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC, or eligible for registration with EGBC
- Ability to work under Professional Practice Management and Quality Management requirements
- Familiarity with digital sign and seal technologies (Notarius may be required)
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards
- Ability to use standard industry design and analysis software
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Intermediate written and spoken English for professional environments
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Utility industry experience
- Additional familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards
Important Notes
- Prior to assignment commencement, the selected candidate must hold their own sole practitioner Permit to Practice or operate under their firm’s Permit to Practice with EGBC
- Registrants provided through this assignment will work under the Professional Practice Management Plan – Quality Management Pillar
- Registrants must apply their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice Number to sealed work
- Project documentation produced during the contract period will be retained to satisfy EGBC Bylaws
Pay: $62.00-$76.00 per hour
