Role Summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager, you will take full technical ownership of mechanical building systems projects—including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection—from concept and detailed design through construction. You will lead technically complex projects across multiple sectors (commercial, institutional, and industrial) and provide hands-on design expertise when junior and intermediate engineers may lack experience.
In this role, you will also mentor and guide the mechanical design team, ensuring high-quality designs, Revit/CAD model accuracy, code compliance, and integrated system coordination. You will serve as the technical lead and a key contributor to both design solutions and project execution.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $120,000–$130,000 per annum, based on experience

What you’ll be doing-Key Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Project Ownership
- Lead the design and engineering of mechanical building systems across multiple sectors (commercial, institutional, industrial)
- Take ownership of full project lifecycle for assigned projects—from concept and detailed design to construction support
- Ensure all designs are accurate, coordinated, constructible, and code-compliant (OBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
- Develop and review Revit and AutoCAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Solve complex technical challenges where junior engineers require guidance
Team Mentorship & Technical Oversight
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers
- Review and approve design packages and calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Establish design review milestones and best practices to maintain high-quality deliverables
Project Collaboration & Construction Support
- Coordinate design with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines
- Participate in technical coordination meetings, RFI responses, and shop drawing reviews
- Support construction administration and site inspections as required
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal standards, workflows, and design tools
- Stay current on emerging technologies, energy-efficient design, and industry best practices
- Identify opportunities for innovation in design, project delivery, and client service
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- P.Eng designation (or eligibility) preferred
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical systems design
- 3+ years of experience managing mechanical design projects, including oversight of day-to-day operations, team coordination, and resource planning
- 3+ years of experience leading a team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight
- Proven experience with HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection system design across multiple sectors
- Strong hands-on Revit and AutoCAD proficiency
- Solid understanding of OBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other applicable codes and standards
- Experience leading complex projects, managing design deliverables, and mentoring junior and intermediate staff
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, for technical discussions with internal teams, clients, and contractors
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
