Description
Canadian Coin News is seeking a freelance multimedia reporter to provide on-site coverage of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association's annual convention, taking place July 16-18, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The successful candidate will attend seminars, symposium presentations, club meetings and special events while capturing high-quality photographs of convention activities, exhibitors, award presentations and attendees. Coverage will be used across Canadian Coin News, our website and related publications.
This assignment is ideal for someone with strong writing, interviewing and photography skills who enjoys covering events and telling stories. Knowledge of coins, collecting or numismatics is an asset but not required.
As Canadian Coin News currently does not have a regular contributor based in Manitoba, this assignment may lead to additional freelance opportunities covering collector events, hobby stories and related assignments in the future.
This is a freelance/contract position. Compensation will be discussed with qualified candidates.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, interviewing and communication skills.

Ability to write accurate, engaging news and feature stories on deadline.

Experience covering events, conferences, trade shows or community activities is an asset.

Ability to take high-quality digital photographs suitable for publication.

Comfortable approaching and interviewing attendees, speakers and exhibitors.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments during a multi-day event.

Knowledge of coins, collecting, history or numismatics is beneficial but not required.

Must be available to attend the RCNA Convention in Winnipeg from July 16-18, 2026.
