We’re looking for dynamic team members for the position of Kitchen Hand Associate who can bring that story to life for the Summer. This temporary position runs from May 4 to August 30, 2026.
The successful applicant will play an integral role in supporting the culinary vision at Métis Crossing including the preparation and serving of indigenous cuisine and supporting special events working with the head chef and the ‘back-of-house’ team. While your primary responsibilities will align with those of Kitchen Hand, you will be required to assist with other duties as needed to support the organization's operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food and beverage preparation to support kitchen operations.
- Maintain and clean workstations, ensuring food areas are wiped down and sanitized regularly.
- Follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Perform other “back of house” duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse audiences of various cultural backgrounds and ages.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in schedule and assignments.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Capability to work independently, as part of a team, and under the direction of others.
- Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced, multitasking environment.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding area, including standing for extended periods during shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of food service operations and requirements.
- Previous experience as a kitchen helper or server is an asset.
- Certification in WHMIS and basic First Aid.
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling procedures.
- Familiarity with Alberta history, cultural diversity, and Métis heritage.
Other Requirements
- Availability to work a mixed schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
- A clear Criminal Record Check is required.
- Must be a student returning to school in Fall 2026.
Employment Details
Schedule will be based on working 32 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of Métis Crossing, and will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
