Who we are
TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton. Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the valley line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.
A typical day for the Health & Safety Coordinator
- Apply applicable laws and regulations as they pertain to site safety.
- Implement, maintain and enforce safety and environmental management systems in accordance with all applicable laws.
- Participate in accident and near miss investigations. Lead workplace hazard analyses and develop mitigation action plans. Enforce proper PPE, HS&E practises are undertaken. Enforce hazardous waste control and other applicable environmental standards.
- Ensure consistent compliance with all policies and procedures and safe practices by monitoring, inspecting and auditing. Monitor TransEd subcontractor, visitors and employee activities and ensure their compliance with the site safety management system.
- Perform workplace orientations and training to employees, contractors, suppliers and visitors. Develop and deliver safety training as required. Liaise with regulators, committees, customers, site management, contractors and peers.
- Participate and manage safety observation visits and planned inspections
- Educate employees via safety meetings, toolbox talks and bulletin updates
- Assist with sub-contractor onboarding
- Represent TransEd at the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Review work instruction’s when required
- Other duties as assigned
What you will bring to the team
- Diploma or Certificate from recognised learning institution in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Recognized health and safety certification is desired but not essential
- Work experience in safety or related field
- Thorough understanding of HSE management system principles
- Knowledge of rail safety standards will be an asset
