Our team specializes in traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers (PXOs), roadway lighting, AODA upgrades, active transportation, and operational reviews. From concept and design through construction, inspections, and operational support, we deliver practical, compliant, and reliable transportation solutions.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Traffic Signal & Roadway Lighting Designer to join our growing transportation team. This role offers hands-on involvement in a wide range of municipal transportation projects, with direct exposure from design through construction and operations.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare detailed traffic signal and roadway lighting designs using AutoCAD and MicroStation
- Design new and upgraded:
- Traffic signals and PXOs
- Roadway and street lighting systems
- Pedestrian and cycling signals and detection
- Perform illumination and lighting analysis using AGi32
- Develop electrical layouts including conduits, grounding, poles, bases, and luminaire schedules
- Apply municipal, MTO, and industry standards to ensure safe and compliant designs
- Support AODA-compliant intersection and signal upgrades
- Assist with peer reviews of traffic signal and lighting designs
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and quantity take-offs
- Provide construction-phase support, including site inspections and review of contractor submissions
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and municipal stakeholders
- Support operational reviews and improvement strategies for traffic signal and lighting systems
What You Bring
- Diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in transportation, traffic signals, roadway lighting, or municipal infrastructure
- Strong experience with:
- AutoCAD
- MicroStation
- AGi32
- Knowledge of Ontario municipal and MTO standards
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience on municipal and MTO transportation projects
- Familiarity with AODA requirements for signals and intersections
- Active transportation design experience
- Construction inspection or contract administration exposure
- Registration or eligibility as C.E.T. is an asset

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
