Role Description and Responsibilities
We are looking for a Commercial Real Estate Associate Lawyer with 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience who is ready to take the next step in their practice. This full-time, on-site role in Calgary offers the opportunity to work on high-quality commercial real estate files, take ownership of meaningful matters, and be part of a supportive team that values initiative, strong client service, and practical legal advice. Your work will include a broad range of sophisticated commercial real estate matters, including but not limited to:
- purchases and sales transactions
- financing transactions (lender and borrower) including construction financing, CMHC financing and private financing
- commercial leasing (landlord and tenant) - drafting and negotiating LOIs, Offer to Lease and Lease Agreements
- construction/builder’s liens
- new condominium projects (residential and commercial) - bylaws, setting up condominium corporations, condo conveyancing
- limited partnership structuring - set up, LP agreements
- new community developer sales
- new homes - construction agreements, sale agreements, project management and construction management agreements, new home sale conveyancing
- HOA encumbrances and bylaws

Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognized institution
- MUST be a member of the Alberta Bar in good standing
- Experience in residential real estate transactions
- 3+ years of direct, relevant experience handling commercial real estate transactions, with the confidence and judgment to manage files, work directly with clients, and move matters forward
- Familiarity with legal documentation for real estate development projects
- Ability to provide sound legal advice to clients and negotiate contracts
- Exceptionally client-focused, highly personable, and responsive
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in corporate law is an asset
