Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic student to join the Children & Youth Ministry team to support our church’s youth programs during the summer months. This role involves engaging with children and youth, assisting with activities, and fostering a safe, welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with young people and possess strong communication and leadership skills to inspire and guide participants through various activities and lessons.
Key Duties
- Assist in the planning and presentation of the SonGarden weekly lesson plans and themes by collaborating in creating engaging, age-appropriate activities, crafts, and interactive learning experiences
- Support lead staff in organizing summer events, outings, and group projects.
- Work alongside staff and volunteers to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for children
- Help organize and prepare teaching materials and supplies and classroom set up
- Foster a positive environment that encourages participation, teamwork, and respect among children and youth.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and team members regarding program details and participant progress.
Qualifications
- Must be a full-time student between the ages of 16 and 30
- Interest in working with children and youth in a faith-based setting
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children’s growth and development.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage time effectively
Requirements
- Availability to work Sundays is a must
- Ability to handle a flexible work schedule based on workload.
- Successful completion of a criminal records/vulnerable sector check
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
