Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Associate to join our finance team. This role involves managing various accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting overall bookkeeping and account reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero and possess strong analytical skills to assist with budgeting, payroll, and accounts management. Responsibilities
As an Accounting Associate, you will work closely with the Principals and Accounting Manager to support a variety of accounting and tax engagements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing year-end financial statements and working papers
- Assisting with corporate (T2) and personal (T1) income tax preparation
- Performing bookkeeping and account reconciliations
- Preparing payroll and HST returns
- Coordinating with clients to collect accounting and tax information
- Organizing and maintaining electronic client files
- Responding to CRA correspondence and assisting with client inquiries
- Communicating with the CRA regarding notices, assessments, and information requests
- Assisting with various accounting, tax, and administrative projects as assigned
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (public practice is an asset)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll processing, and financial reporting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Professional and friendly client service skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues effectively
Technical Skills
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
- DT Max or other Canadian tax software
- CRA Represent a Client and My Business Account
- Adobe Acrobat/PDF editing software
- Microsoft 365 and cloud-based document management
- Experience using AI productivity tools (such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or similar platforms) to improve efficiency, summarize information, draft professional communications, and support day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks.
Pay: $48,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
