The Finance & Insurance (F&I) Manager is responsible for offering vehicle buyers financing options, insurance products, aftermarket protections, and extended warranties. This role also involves working closely with financial institutions to secure competitive interest rates and programs for customers.
F&I Managers must uphold the highest ethical standards, ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations, and maintain department profitability while managing expenses and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Strong communication skills are essential, as F&I Managers interact daily with customers, sales teams, lenders, and vendors. The role requires flexibility, including working extended hours, evenings, and weekends to meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Relationship & Sales Support
Present financing, insurance, aftermarket products, and extended warranties with thorough and transparent explanations.
Clearly communicate manufacturer and dealership service procedures, policies, and program benefits.
Maintain strong relationships with lending institutions to secure competitive interest rates and financing options.
Process all financing and leasing deals accurately and obtain approvals through appropriate financial channels.
Ensure strict compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations affecting F&I operations.
Maintain a seamless referral program with the sales department to ensure all deals enter the F&I process.
Train the sales team on finance and lease programs, product benefits, and dealership protection packages.
Collaborate closely with the General Manager and Sales Managers to ensure a smooth customer experience.
Operational Excellence & Attention to Detail
Listen to and accurately document customer needs, concerns, and expectations throughout the sales process.
Follow up with customers using their preferred communication method.
Prepare thoroughly for vehicle deliveries, ensuring all aspects of the F&I process are complete and compliant.
Ensure that all paperwork and documentation are accurate, timely, and properly filed.
Review performance and daily processes regularly to identify opportunities for better time management and efficiency.
Brand Commitment & Professionalism
Stay current with all dealership training programs and product knowledge updates.
Clearly communicate technical features, benefits, and available programs to customers.
Maintain strong awareness of new programs, manufacturer incentives, and competitive products.
Deliver exceptional customer service at all times and champion the dealership’s service standards.
Keep personal and shared workspaces clean, organized, and professional.
Maintain a polished, professional appearance.
Stay informed on the features, pricing, and benefits of competitors’ products.

Education & Experience
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
College certificate or additional relevant coursework is an asset.
Automotive sales or F&I experience is an asset.
Provincial licensing as required by MVDA (e.g., OMVIC, AMVIC).
Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
