Jakes Construction is a civil construction company delivering projects across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, including roadworks, excavation, underground utilities, and pipeline infrastructure.
We are currently seeking a Junior Estimator with experience in civil construction to join our Pre-construction team.
This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on exposure to civil construction (field or office) and is looking to grow their career in estimating. You will play a key role in supporting the preparation and delivery of tenders, cost estimates, and proposals for a variety of civil construction projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects including earthworks, underground utilities, roadworks, and pipeline infrastructure
- Review and analyze municipal, provincial, and private tender documents, drawings, and specifications
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs for materials and project components (excavation, pipe, granulars, etc.)
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure scope clarity
- Support the preparation, formatting, and submission of tender packages and proposals
- Compare drawing revisions and identify cost impacts during tender periods
- Maintain estimating databases and organized project files
- Conduct productivity tracking and compare actual vs. estimated outputs
- Support communication between estimating and construction teams
What You Bring (Required)
- Experience in civil construction (field or office), preferably within British Columbia
- Experience reading and interpreting civil construction drawings
- Strong proficiency in Excel (comfortable working with data and formulas)
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven tender environment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
Assets (Strongly Preferred)
- Experience completing quantity take-offs for civil construction projects
- Exposure to earthworks, underground utilities, road building, or pipeline scopes
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Trimble, or similar software
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, B2W Estimate)
- Civil Engineering Technology diploma or related education

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
