Synopsis
In Home Education, parents have assumed the full responsibility of planning and educating their children. Your role is to coach, mentor, guide, encourage and hold the family accountable.
Qualifications
- Have a Bachelor of Education degree
- Hold a valid Alberta Education Teaching Certificate
- Be creative, independent and a self-starter
- Be supportive of home education
- Align with the mission and vision of YCS
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner
The following will be considered assets but not mandatory:
- Have personal experience in Home Education either past or present
- Experience homeschooling their own children
- Former Facilitator experience
- Knowledge of home education curriculum choices
Responsibilities:
1.Cooperate with the YCS Principal, in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the school.
2.Possess knowledge or be willing to learn both Alberta Education Program ofStudies and alternative homeschool curriculum.
3.Possess knowledge or be willing to learn the best practices and strategies in home education.
4.Demonstrate operational ability of Online systems and technologies.
5.Assess academic progress of students and provide reports as well as provide curriculum recommendations and home education strategies to parents.
6.Communicate with parents and administration regarding concerns of academic development.
7.Represent YCS in a favourable and professional manner to families and the public.
8.Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and colleagues by treating others with respect, dignity, and kindness.
9.Maintain a growth mindset and seek counsel from parents, staff and administration.
10.Plan, attend and participate in meetings and events related to the role in YCS (YCS@Home).
11.Ensure the requirements of Alberta Education are satisfied with respect to the home education regulations.
12.Continuously seek opportunities to grow spiritually and professionally.
13.Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
