Job Description:
Working within the Cougars Athletics and Recreation department, the Mascot Performer has the exciting job of entertaining fans as Calvin the Cougar! Calvin give high-fives, dances and takes photos with fans at Cougars games, promotional events and University community events.
This is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week.
- Attending all required varsity athletics games and events as Calvin the Cougar
- Attending campus and community events as required
- Engaging fans, taking photos, prompting the crowd to cheer
- Giving away swag and merchandise as required
- Following all mascot protocols and codes of conduct
- Making recommendations on improvements to the program
- Taking care of the mascot suits and costumes
- High school diploma or equivalent
- In good health and able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Excellent communication skills and ability to judge body language
- Desire to entertain fans and cheer on our varsity athletics teams
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to follow directions and change plans on the fly
- Knowledge of mascot practices and experience in a mascot suit is considered an asset
- Knowledge of sports and U SPORTS is considered and asset
- Experience working with kids is considered an asset
Salary: $21.23 - $26.81 per hour
