Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tile Setter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing tile surfaces in residential and commercial spaces. This role requires a strong understanding of flooring installation, tile laying techniques, and blueprint reading. Candidates with handyman experience, carpentry skills, and proficiency with hand tools will excel in this position. The Tile Setter plays a vital role in delivering high-quality craftsmanship that meets client specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for tile installation by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate adhesives or mortar
- Measure and cut tiles accurately using hand tools to fit designated spaces according to blueprints or layout plans
- Install tiles on floors, walls, countertops, and other surfaces ensuring proper alignment and spacing
- Apply grout, caulking, and sealants to finish tile work professionally and ensure durability
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or technical drawings to determine layout and design specifications
- Collaborate with project managers, carpenters, and other tradespeople to coordinate work schedules and ensure project completion on time
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials properly
- Perform repairs or replacements of damaged tiles as needed with precision
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools used in tile setting such as trowels, cutters, levels, and saws
- Strong knowledge of construction practices related to flooring installation and tile laying techniques
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately for precise layout planning
- Experience with carpentry and handyman tasks enhances versatility on job sites
- Skilled in caulking techniques for finishing surfaces effectively
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship
- Good physical stamina for lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working in various environments
