Position Summary
The Cleaning and Sanitation Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the Employer's duty-free retail premises. Working under the direction of the Head Cleaner, the Associate performs general cleaning and washroom sanitation duties, supports the Head Cleaner with daily cleaning routines and special projects, and helps ensure the store consistently meets the Employer's cleanliness, hygiene, and health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Associate's duties include the following:
· Perform general cleaning of the sales floor, entrances, stockrooms, offices, staff areas, and other common areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping surfaces.
· Clean, sanitize, and restock washrooms on a scheduled and as-needed basis, including fixtures, floors, mirrors, and dispensers, maintaining a high standard of hygiene throughout the day.
· Empty and dispose of garbage and recycling, and ensure waste is handled and sorted in accordance with the Employer's procedures.
· Support the Head Cleaner by carrying out assigned cleaning routines, checklists, and special or deep-cleaning projects, and by covering duties in the Head Cleaner's absence as directed.
· Monitor and report low cleaning and washroom supplies, spills, damage, maintenance issues, and safety hazards to the Head Cleaner or management.
· Handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with product instructions, WHMIS requirements, and the Employer's health and safety policies.
· Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and orderliness of cleaning equipment, supplies, and storage areas.
· Comply with all applicable health and safety requirements and with the Employer's procedures for working in a controlled, licensed border duty-free environment.
· Perform other reasonable cleaning and sanitation duties as assigned by the Head Cleaner or management.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate has:
· Previous cleaning, custodial, or sanitation experience is an asset, though not required; training will be provided.
· Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment (WHMIS).
· Attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, hygienic spaces.
· Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to follow instructions, checklists, and health and safety procedures.
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
