Job Summary
St. John’s Presbyterian Church is seeking a part time Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will be an experienced bookkeeper with in-depth working knowledge of Sage and Excel software. This position requires the candidate to work from the church office.

Job Type: Part -time
Salary: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 per week.
Schedule: Flexible hours: Mondays, Tuesdays to Friday afternoons or evenings.
Responsibilities
- Manage church financial administration, including monitoring emails, recording and reconciling weekly offerings, preparing deposits, and ensuring accuracy of financial records.
- Oversee accounts payable, bill payments, remittances, processing.
- Preparation of T4s and charitable tax receipts.
- Monthly Payroll
- Maintain designated and allocated accounts.
- Complete monthly and annual reconciliations.
- Support budget development in collaboration with the Finance Chair.
- Prepare and submit required filings such as T3010 returns and HST rebates
- Complete the annual statistical report.
- Provide regular financial reports to the Finance Committee and Session
- Liaise with fund chairs as needed, and carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable management
- Ability to perform account reconciliation and bank reconciliation accurately
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills for account analysis and budgeting support
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external auditors
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in bookkeeping or accounting is a plus
