Requirements: The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Secondary Education ( B.Ed)
École McTavish is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered educator to serve as a Learning Coach. The Learning Coach works directly with teachers and school leadership to strengthen instructional practice and improve student engagement and achievement across all grade levels 7 through 12.
This position is focused on professional growth, collaboration, and instructional excellence. The Learning Coach supports educators through classroom coaching, modeling best practices, professional development, collaborative planning, and mentoring. The successful candidate will help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement while supporting high-quality teaching practices that meet the diverse needs of all learners.
The Learning Coach plays a key role in building teacher capacity, supporting curriculum implementation, and enhancing instructional and assessment practices in alignment with school and division priorities.
Experience teaching Grades 7–12 is preferred
Experience teaching across multiple subject areas including Math/Science and Humanities is considered a strong asset
Experience within CTS (Career and Technology Studies) programming would be an asset.
Demonstrated understanding of instructional practices across diverse curricular areas and grade levels.
Ability to support teachers in a variety of classroom environments and subject disciplines Key Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching & Classroom Support
- Support teachers in implementing effective, research-based instructional practices
- Provide classroom-based coaching, instructional support, and professional feedback to enhance student engagement and achievement
- Model effective teaching strategies, differentiated instruction, and classroom engagement practices
- Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum implementation and instructional planning
- Support teachers in developing meaningful assessment practices that inform instruction
- Support teachers in developing differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Facilitate reflective conversations focused on instructional growth and student learning
- Assist teachers in embedding executive functioning supports and strategies within classroom instruction and organization
Professional Learning & Capacity Building
- Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities aligned with school goals and staff needs
- Lead staff learning in key pedagogy areas, instructional frameworks, assessment, and student engagement strategies
- Support collaborative professional learning.
- Mentor and support new teachers through coaching, collaboration, and instructional guidance
- Share current educational research and best practices with staff
Data-Informed Practice
- Analyze student achievement and engagement data to support instructional improvement
- Work collaboratively with administration and teachers to identify areas of growth and develop responsive strategies
- Support staff in using assessment data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes
School Leadership & Collaboration
- Work closely with administration to support school education plan and educational goals
- Foster positive professional relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners
- Support innovation, collaboration, and a culture of continuous professional growth within the school
- Assist with the implementation of school-wide instructional initiatives and learning priorities
- Possibility of teaching duties as assigned.
