Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Legal Assistant/Clerk. In this position, you will provide administrative support to our legal team and assist with various legal tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Assist with drafting and proofreading legal documents
- Maintain and organize legal files and documents
- Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel
- Manage calendars and schedule appointments
- Assist with project management tasks, including tracking deadlines and progress
- Write correspondence and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Perform general administrative and clerical duties as needed
Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in using Outlook, Divorcemate, PCLaw or similar document management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed
- Familiarity with legal drafting techniques and terminology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong research skills and ability to gather information from various sources
- Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Please keep in mind this is a small law firm and duties may change in accordance with the firm's needs at any given time
