The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre (WOCRC) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting health, wellness, safety, and inclusion across far west Ottawa. Since 1986, WOCRC has supported individuals and families through a wide range of community, social, and health services designed to strengthen and empower the communities we serve.
Our programs support children, youth, families, newcomers, seniors, and individuals experiencing crisis or social isolation through counselling, housing and violence against women services, community development initiatives, health promotion, and family support programming.

Youth Programs Assistant
The Youth Programs Assistant is an 8 week Summer Student role under the Canada Summer Jobs Grant (must be between the ages of 15-30 as per funding requirements)
Compensation: $17.60 hourly (plus 4% vacation pay)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, hours include evenings and Saturdays as needed
About the Role:
Under the supervision of the Counselling Services Team Manager, the Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the team in the delivery of Youth Programs.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Assist with planning of Youth Program activities, drop-ins and workshops, including the development of communication materials
- Assist in promoting a positive, creative and exciting learning environment youth programs.
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Youth programs
- Assist in setting up and maintaining a safe and secure environment for Children and Youth in programs
- Provide program and administrative assistance to the CST team
- May assist with the EarlyON team
- Attend team meetings and educational activities as required
Your Skills & Experience:
- Child & Youth Worker and/or equivalent related experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Knowledge of WOCRC Child and Youth activities (playgroups, resource services, lending library, drop-ins and community outreach)
- Experience working with children and youth in a group environment
- Experience with and sensitivity to diverse community groups
- Ability to communicate fluently in English, spoken and written; French and/or other languages are an asset
- Available to work flexible hours
