Seven Generations Environmental Services Ltd. (SGES) is a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated
environmental consulting firm dedicated to working with all levels of government and the private sector
to deliver environmental services including environmental monitoring and related land restoration
activities.
Throughout the Lower Mainland, to the Fraser Valley and beyond you will be involved in various projects
providing environmental monitoring, wildlife surveys, restoration activities, fish salvages, hydroseeding
and other technical environmental work.
Responsibilities
SGES is looking for candidates who have a technical background and who views this position, as a first
step in a career in the environmental industry. Project work will focus principally in the areas of fish
sampling and salvage, environmental monitoring, erosion, and sediment control inspection, wildlife
surveys and land restoration/reclamation activities.
Based on experience and aptitude, the successful candidate would be given opportunities for expanded
duties and career growth within our environmental services group.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental monitoring, erosion and sediment control
practices, fish habitat assessments, riparian area regulation assessments, fish sampling, fish and
amphibian salvages, and land restoration. The candidate should also have working knowledge of fish
identification, and riparian plant identification. Previous experience working with Species at Risk is
considered an asset.
Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills. Strong verbal communication and technical writing
skills are particularly important.
Mandatory qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in biology, environmental studies or related discipline; or
environmental technical certificate, with 1-3 years’ relevant field experience;
- Strong computer skills are essential (e.g. MS Office)
- Class 5 driver's license valid in B.C.
Additional desirable qualifications
• Electrofishing certification
- Level 1 First Aid and Transportation Endorsement
- Erosion and sediment control inspection/installation experience/training
- Construction Environmental Monitoring experience/training
- WHMIS Certificate preferred
