Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Experience in the hospitality industry is an asset but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries.
- Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and merchant accounts.
- Prepare and file GST returns and other government remittances.
- Process payroll and maintain employee payroll records.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Record journal entries and complete month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Coordinate with external accountants during audits and tax preparation.
- Monitor expenses and ensure proper documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping.
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with payroll processing and GST reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Hospitality accounting experience is considered an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00-$20.00 per hour
