OVERVIEW
To ensure efficient and appropriate release of Personal Health Information (PHI) to external and internal customers by consulting applicable policies, procedures and in accordance with relevant provincial and federal legislation.
To protect the privacy of patients by ensuring that appropriate security and confidentiality principals/ practices are maintained when releasing PHI.
EDUCATION
- Graduate of a recognized Health Information Managment Program
- Active member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years experience in release of PHI within health care settings
- Familiarity to use microfilm records.
- Knowledgeof sytems such as Oracle Ceerner, Med2020 an asset
- Demonstrated working knowledge of electronic patient health record
- Familiarity and understanding of release of patient information
- Sound knowledge of current legislative requirements for release of PHI
- Understanding of hospital by-laws, policies and Legislative Acts
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Ability totype a minimum of 60 wpm accurately and timely
- Demonstrated proficiency in using health records software applications and Microsoft's standard office suite of products (e.g. Excel, Work and PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of Internet (on-line) resources such as CIHI website for queries
- Working knowledge of Crystal Reports as they applytothe abstracting system for purpose of QA
- Good work and attendance record required
