About Sign FX
Sign FX is a commercial signage company based in Ottawa, specializing in custom architectural, wayfinding, and branded signage. We design and fabricate everything in-house — from structural metal frames to fully assembled illuminated signs. We're a skilled, tight-knit team that takes craftsmanship seriously, and we're growing.
Note: We recently purchased a building in Carleton Place, ON and will be relocating our shop there within the next 6 months. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to that location going forward.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Sign Fabricator to join our production team. You'll be building custom commercial signage from start to finish — working with metal, acrylic, PVC, and wood using a range of fabrication tools and techniques in a fast-paced shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, weld, sand, finish, and assemble fabricated metal signs and sign components
- Construct different sign types from start to finish using shop drawings and production files
- Operate fabrication tools including hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and confidently
- Install LED lighting systems into sign cabinets
- Operate CNC routers, laser cutters, and vinyl plotters as needed
- Collaborate with team members on complex fabrication jobs
- Receive and properly store raw materials in designated areas
- Lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) such as metal sheets, wooden panels, and rolls of vinyl
- Use Odoo ERP to review work orders, navigate manufacturing orders, and log job progress
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a sign fabricator or in a similar fabrication role
- Expertise in fabrication methods: welding, cutting, routing, and assembling metal, acrylic, PVC, and wood
- Ability to read sign drawings and shop drawings accurately
- Strong understanding of sign fabrication techniques, materials, and construction methods
- Experience installing LED lighting systems into cabinets
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment
Assets (not required)
- Forklift Certification
- Fall Arrest Certification
- Aerial Lift or Suspended Powered Platform Certification
Schedule
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Friday: 7:00 am – 11:00 am
- Occasional overtime may be required
