We are seeking a full-time pharmacy assistant to join our long-term care team at Roulston’s Pharmacy. The candidate must be people oriented as we strive to provide the best patient care and feel that care begins at the first voice our patients’ experience. The candidates must have excellent data entry and attention to detail skills while being empathetic to our patients’ needs at all times.
Position Description
· Receive and input new prescriptions into Kroll system, including those for eMAR Homes
· Maintain patient profiles and make the necessary changes or input re-orders using Kroll
· Package orders according to the type of medication; Pac Med, PRN blister cards, etc.
· Clarify orders by communicating with physicians and nursing staff at the various nursing/retirement homes
· Complete the adjudication of automatic weekly batches for each long-term care home/retirement home; re-bill as necessary
· Operate PacMed/VBM machine; add medications and manage batch packaging
· Create pre-stock lists to replenish automated dispensing cabinets in Homes
· Process quarterly review orders and file according to department procedures
· Scan all patient orders, admission/re-admission forms, quarterly reviews and other patient documents and acquire into the patients’ electronic health record

· Willingness to learn new data entry skills including custom cycles for complex orders in both Kroll
· Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with pharmacists, co-workers, community partners and customers
· Attention to detail and accuracy ie: verifying documentation
· Good keyboarding skills an asset
· Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years experience using Kroll pharmacy software is preferred
- Custom cycle and/or Dispill order entry an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel an asset
Wage
$21.00 - $23.00, depending on experience
Shifts and Hours
- 40 - 44 hours per week
- Fair evening and weekend rotation
