Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated, professional, and compassionate Cardiac Technician / Stress Test Technician to join our growing medical team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing exercise treadmill tests, supporting stress echocardiography procedures, performing resting ECGs, and processing ambulatory data.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cardiologists, sonographers, and clinic staff to deliver the highest standard of patient-centered care. You will be responsible for processing testing data, creating accurate preliminary diagnostic reports, and maintaining meticulous documentation while proactively recognizing and notifying the healthcare team of any urgent or abnormal findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform cardiac stress testing, including exercise treadmill tests (ETT) and dedicated technical support during stress echocardiography studies.
- Patient Care & Prep: Thoroughly prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, explain testing protocols clearly to alleviate anxiety, and secure accurate baseline clinical parameters.
- ECG & Vital Monitoring: Obtain, track, and monitor real-time ECG tracings; systematically check and record patient vital signs safely before, during, and after stress protocols.
- Rhythm Recognition: Expertly recognize normal vs. abnormal cardiac rhythms, complex arrhythmias, or acute ischemic changes, ensuring immediate reporting of urgent findings to the supervising physician.
- Clinical Collaboration: Seamlessly assist attending physicians and cardiac sonographers during multi-disciplinary cardiac diagnostic procedures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Ensure highly accurate clinical documentation, formulate clean preliminary reports, and manage systematic patient records within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Safety & Maintenance: Maintain, calibrate, and sanitize specialized diagnostic equipment while strictly adhering to clinic safety and infection-control protocols.
- Professional Communication: Provide exceptional, empathetic patient care and maintain polished, professional communication across the entire inter-professional team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of a recognized Cardiology Technology or Cardiovascular Technology diploma/degree program.
- Professional Standing: Active registration and membership in good standing with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) or an equivalent appropriate professional regulatory body.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
- Clinical Knowledge: Strong, advanced understanding of multi-lead ECG interpretation, cardiac anatomy, physiology, and standard stress testing guidelines.
- Core Competencies: Outstanding punctuality, reliability, attendance, and a strong work record. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work independently with a high level of initiative, as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferred Skills & Assets:
- Previous experience in a busy cardiac diagnostic clinic (2 years of recent stress testing experience is highly preferred).
- Strong familiarity and comfort with specialized equipment, including treadmill testing software, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure devices.
- High proficiency with software applications, including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, MS Office/Excel, and secure digital charting tools.
- Formal certification or training in Intravenous (IV) insertion skills is considered a major asset.
Pay: $23.00-$30.00 per hour
