Western’s Integrated Science program offers students both breadth across the sciences and depth in one particular area of science. Students in the program enroll in Integrated Science courses for breadth, as well as courses in one of nine chosen disciplines for depth.

Graduates of the program will receive an Honours Specialization in Integrated Science with [insert name of discipline here]. The nine disciplines from which students can choose are: Astrophysics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Genetics, Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Physics, Synthetic Biology.

Course Information

Explore foundational topics in astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, earth science, mathematics, and physics through an integrated, questions-based approach. Small-group interactions and interdisciplinary laboratory experiments are designed to foster teamwork, interdisciplinary thinking, and the development problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Please note that this course is a 2.0-credit course that is team-taught by instructors from different subject areas. This position is for the chemistry component of the course and carries a workload of 0.5 course.

All course activities, including meetings, tests, and exams are fully in-person.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.

Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline (or be close to completion) and a demonstrated record of high performance and expertise teaching at the university-level the specific subject area of any course for which they apply. Preference will be given to experience in teaching or researching in the specific subject area of the course applied for.
