VDK Group Inc. is currently seeking to hire a full-time Estimator – Residential Windows & Doors. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our residential operations by preparing accurate takeoffs, developing detailed quotations, and working closely with sales, production, and project coordination teams. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of new residential construction projects, while contributing to the continued growth and success of our residential division.
What You’ll Do
- Review house plans, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates for residential window and door projects
- Analyze project scope, design details, and installation requirements to ensure all products, options, and labour considerations are included
- Prepare detailed and timely quotations for residential windows, exterior doors, patio doors, and related accessories
- Collaborate closely with the sales team, project coordinators, and production staff to clarify project requirements and develop competitive, accurate pricing
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain current pricing, product information, and lead times
- Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and correspondence for ongoing and future reference
- Stay current with product lines, energy efficiency standards, building codes, and manufacturer specifications
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and templates to enhance accuracy and efficiency
What You’ll Bring
- A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to read and interpret residential drawings, schedules, and specifications
- Experience in construction estimating, preferably within residential windows, doors, or a related field
- Strong understanding of residential construction practices, materials, and installation requirements
- Proficiency with estimating or takeoff software (e.g., Window Builder, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar) is an asset
- Solid computer skills, including experience with Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- High level of organization and attention to detail
