Job Description:
The Customer Service Representative plays a critical role in logistics operations by acting as the communication hub between customers, carriers, drivers, and internal operations teams. This position ensures shipment visibility, resolves service issues, and delivers a high standard of customer service throughout the transportation lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary customer contact for shipment inquiries, pickup and delivery status, and transit updates
- Provide proactive communication regarding delays, route changes, service disruptions, or exceptions
- Trace and track shipments using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS platforms, and carrier portals
- Coordinate closely with dispatchers, planners, appointment scheduling, and warehouse teams
- Respond to customer emails and phone calls in a timely, professional manner
- Manage shipment exceptions such as late pickups, missed deliveries, breakdowns, or weather delays
- Assist with appointment coordination, rescheduling, and dock time confirmations
- Document all customer interactions, shipment updates, and issue resolutions accurately
- Support claims, proof of delivery (POD) requests, accessorial charges, and billing inquiries
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and retention
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (logistics or supply chain education preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain customer service
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-first mindset
