About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Manufacturing Business Analyst to support our growing manufacturing operations specializing in steel gates, fencing, and welded wire systems. This position plays a key role in bridging sales, operations, and finance by translating drawings, material take-offs, and customer requirements into accurate cost estimates and project analyses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining product and project costings, supporting inventory costing and performance analysis, and providing critical financial insights to drive operational decision-making. The role will also be instrumental in the implementation of our new ERP system and in developing scalable processes, controls, and reporting capabilities to support the company's continued growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating
- Review drawings, sketches, redlines, and written requests from sales and engineering
- Perform material take-offs.
- Prepare accurate costings for: Raw steel and fabricated components; Welding, cutting, drilling, and finishing labor; Coatings (galvanizing, powder coating); Hardware and bought-out components
- Provide quick pricing support for scope changes and add-ons
- Identify non-standard requests and flag cost, lead time, or fabrication impacts
Reporting & Analysis
- Analyze product, project, and operational costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and maintain cost models, forecasts, and budgeting tools.
- Monitor actual costs against budgets and forecasts and investigate significant variances.
- Conduct profitability analysis for products, services and customers
- Assist with inventory costing, standard costing, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate project costing, revenue recognition, and accruals in accordance with company policies.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance, Procurement, Operations, and Business Leads to monitor project performance, understand cost drivers and implement cost-control measures.
Development & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to costs and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain cost control procedures and reporting processes.
- Assist in the implementation of new ERP system (Business Central)
- Act as a system super-user
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- CPA designation or progress toward certification is considered an asset.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in cost control, financial analysis, cost accounting, budgeting or related field
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
- 5+ years experience in Financial and cost analysis
- Clear communicator
- Strong problem solving skills
- Experience implementing new processes
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Adaptable and comfortable in a changing environment
- Knowledge of Business Central considered an asset
