We are looking for a General Manager who can lead an enthusiastic team dedicated to providing excellence in resident care. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the retirement community with a primary focus on creating an atmosphere where residents can enjoy a lifestyle and quality of life which exceeds their expectations.

Responsibilities:
- Leads an efficient team of managers and employees;
- Builds and maintains a strong team by sourcing, selecting and onboarding key talent and actively plans for succession;
- Develops employees by coaching and managing performance and believes in and fosters a positive work culture;
- Administers, coordinates, and directs all activities of the residence, including the management of human, (personnel) physical (property) and financial resources to ensure the effectiveness of operational activities;
- Oversees all aspects of operations to ensure programs and the property consistently meet company expectations, including care, dietary, recreation, maintenance and housekeeping departments;
- Conducts internal audits and creates corrective action plans as needed;
- Develops, implements, and updates operational policies and procedures for all departments of the residence to ensure a high level of care for residents as well as an effective and satisfying operating environment for employees;
- Maintains the confidentiality of personnel and resident data. Ensures accurate financial reporting and accountability. Completes financial analysis and related reports to owners in a timely manner;
- Ensures the provision of high-quality care and overall living experience for residents and resident satisfaction;
- Holds the team accountable for delivering exceptional resident experience and satisfaction;
- Attends resident meetings as requested in order to discuss concerns/complaints and suggestions;
- Develops, maintains, and fosters a positive community partnership with health and service providers to promote Lanes as a part of the community;
- Provides leadership and motivation to the staff for the achievement of the company’s objectives;
- Manages the retirement community in accordance with legislative requirements;
- Partners with Regional Health Authority and Service NL ensuring compliance with all government standards;
- Promptly attends to any concerns of residents and/or family members in a satisfactory manner ensuring implementation of action plans and avoiding reoccurrences;
- Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's emergency fire and safety program;
- Refers and adheres to all policies and procedures as they are in effect;
- Ability to prepare annual operational and capital budgets and monitor actual performance against them;
- Meets occupancy forecasts and driving the sales process within the residence and respond to occupancy challenges;
- Maintains a performance driven team with a focus on: financials, occupancy, customer service, employee engagement and occupational health and safety standards;
- Actively looks for ways to market and promote the company;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications or Skills Required:
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in seniors' housing, hospitality or general management professions would be considered an asset;
- Experience in a progressively responsible role with demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, marketing, financial planning and effective problem solving;
- A certificate/diploma or degree in Business, Hospitality or Nursing Initiative would be considered an asset;
- Good communication skills - both oral and written;
- Ability to relate to all levels of staff, residents and their families with a high degree of patience, tolerance, and confidentiality.
All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. The successful candidate will be required to be certified in Emergency First Aid, and a Criminal Record Search, which may include a vulnerable sector screen, will be required within 30 days of hire.
