SBC continues to push the boundaries of craft beer and tourism in Niagara, and more recently expanded with the addition of the Black Oak Brewing facility in Etobicoke, Ontario. The brewery has cultivated a welcoming space where both visitors and locals can come together and enjoy exceptional beer. In late 2022, SBC acquired the assets of Black Oak Brewing Company, incorporating both their product lineup and team into the organization. All of our beers are brewed in-house, and we also provide contract brewing, packaging, and warehousing services for our partners.
We are currently hiring for a full-time permanent Lead Brewing position in Etobicoke, ON. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Director of Operations across all stages of production, from brewing through to packaging.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day brewing operations working on 20HL Brewhouse with assistance of Brewers, Cellarmen, and Director of Operations.
- Operate safely and efficiently, following all SOPs
- Perform cellaring tasks such as gravity checks, testing, transfers, carbonation, and filtration as needed
- Assist Packaging/Warehouse Lead in packaging duties as needed when brewing schedule is light
- Accurately maintain all production records and documentation
- Follow all CIP procedures and general cleaning protocols
- Uphold product quality through standard testing methods
- Support with recipe development
- Prepare packaging materials
- Receive incoming shipments and coordinate outgoing deliveries
- Taste and evaluate beer for quality, identifying off-flavours and opportunities for improvement
Requirements:
- Experience in a production brewery (4+ years preferred, but not required)
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Solid understanding of brewing processes and techniques
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50+ lbs
- Comfortable with physical tasks such as climbing stairs, crouching, and working at heights
- A degree in Brewing or a related field is considered an asset
- Forklift certification is an asset
