Job Description
Cyr Electrical Contracting is seeking a dependable and experienced 4th-year apprentice or Journeyperson Electrician to assist with residential and commercial electrical projects throughout Saskatoon and the surrounding area.
Preference will be given to a Journeyperson who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting electrical issues, and taking responsibility for smaller jobs without constant supervision.
This is initially a temporary, project-based position. During normal operations, approximately 25 hours per week may be available. Hours may increase to approximately 35–40 hours per week when larger projects are active.
Depending on workload, performance, and mutual fit, the position could develop into casual/on-call work or a full-time permanent role.
This opportunity may be well suited to an experienced electrician looking for greater flexibility, project-based employment, or a position that can accommodate other professional or personal pursuits.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential and commercial electrical work
- Complete electrical service calls and renovations
- Assist with residential and commercial new construction
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and job instructions
- Plan and complete assigned work independently
- Identify practical solutions to unexpected site conditions
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and other trades
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Complete work in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable Saskatchewan requirements
Qualifications
- Registered 4th-year electrical apprentice in Saskatchewan or certified Journeyperson Electrician
- Proof of apprenticeship level or Journeyperson certification required
- Experience with residential and commercial electrical work
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks responsibly
- Professional attitude and dependable work habits
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Valid driver’s licence
- Reliable vehicle to travel to and from local shop
- Own basic electrical hand tools
- Own appropriate personal protective equipment
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Typical hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Approximately 25 hours per week during normal operations
- Approximately 35–40 hours per week during larger active projects
- Start date to be determined
Compensation
- Wage dependent on experience level
- Journeyman : $45/hr
This position does not currently include a benefits package, paid vacation program, or guaranteed overtime.
