Overview
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented CAD Designer / Jr Project Manager to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects across various fabrication and design disciplines. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in CAD software, drafting, and schematics, along with a foundational understanding of fabrication processes. Responsibilities
- Design and prepare detailed electronic (CAD) working plans and/or scale drawings for varied projects from observation, measurements, sketches and specifications
- Produce detailed, final drawings and specifications using dedicated computer software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) to produce design specifications, including parts lists and requisitions for procurement.
- Work closely with the General Manager to select cost effect materials and construction techniques.
- Organize and maintain a design and CAD digital file database for each project
- Provide technical guidance and direction as required.
- Interface with departmental personnel to obtain details of materials requirements
- Review plans and writing technical reports to meet project specifications
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
- Employ problem-solving strategies and find solutions to product design issues
- Successfully carry out assignments on project design teams.
- Facilitate and ensure the quality of design, drawings and graphic work produced within the team
- Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities.
- Manage project activities throughout life cycle, including material procurement, vendor deliveries and providing assistance to shop foreman necessary for project success.
- Work with customer, general manager and shop foreman to ensure projects are completed and delivered within the scheduled timeline.
- Reallocate resources across multiple projects where necessary; identify and resolve any resource allocation discrepancies.
- Provide regular reports (status, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects; deliver these reports during regular production meetings.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in design or a related field required
- Minimum 5 years in Product design experience
- Expect proficiency in AutoCAD design software
- Working knowledge of Solidworks design software
- Project Management experience including customer interactions and material procurement.
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to identify customer needs and the ability to effectively communicate them required.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong presentation, oratory, and written skills
- Demonstrated ability to finish multiple projects on time and scale
- Computer literate, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Adobe Products
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to multitask in a fast paced product development environment.
