Behind every quote, chart, and filing is a database tier that has to be fast, accurate, and always on.
We're hiring a Senior Database Administrator to own that tier. You'll be the person engineering teams turn to when a query is slow, a replica is lagging, or a migration plan needs a second set of eyes. If you like the idea of running production databases that traders and apps actually depend on—not just dev environments and dashboards—this one's for you.
What you'll be doing
You'll keep our PostgreSQL and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments healthy, fast, and secure. Day to day, that looks like:
- Tuning queries, indexes, and configurations so dashboards load fast and batch jobs finish on time
- Designing and running backup, recovery, replication, and HA strategies you'd actually trust at 3 a.m.
- Leading the ongoing migration from legacy Oracle to PostgreSQL and OCI—data modeling, cutover planning, validation, the whole thing
- Hardening security and supporting compliance requirements that come with handling financial data
- Automating the boring stuff: provisioning, patching, monitoring, schema changes, and folding database work into our CI/CD pipelines
- Partnering with engineers and SREs on schema reviews, capacity planning, and incident response
What we're looking for
You should have:
- Several years of hands-on production DBA experience, with deep PostgreSQL chops and working knowledge of Oracle on OCI
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL, plus a real track record of diagnosing and fixing performance problems in production
- Comfort on Linux/Unix and shell scripting—you don't need a GUI to be productive
- Solid grounding in backup, recovery, monitoring, and high-availability design (streaming replication, failover, point-in-time recovery, the works)
- A security mindset: roles, encryption, auditing, and the compliance posture that comes with financial systems
Bonus points for any of these:
- Oracle RAC experience (10g or later)—legacy or hybrid setups
- Real migration experience moving on-prem Oracle to OCI or PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure-as-code and automation: Ansible, Terraform, Liquibase, Flyway, or similar
- PostgreSQL extensions like PostGIS, TimescaleDB, or pg_partman
- Background in financial data, market data, or other high-volume, low-latency environments
