Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Referral Clerk to join our healthcare team in Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating patient referrals to specialists and diagnostic services while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with provincial healthcare standards, including OHIP requirements and privacy legislation.

Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage patient referrals to specialists, hospitals, and diagnostic facilities
- Ensure referrals meet OHIP and specialist requirements, including proper documentation and forms
- Communicate with patients regarding referral status, appointment details, and next steps
- Liaise with physicians, specialists, hospitals, and external clinics to coordinate care
- Accurately enter and maintain referral information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Track and follow up on pending referrals to ensure timely completion
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with PHIPA and clinic policies
- Assist with administrative duties such as faxing, scanning, and scheduling as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical Office Administration diploma or related education (preferred)
- Previous experience in a medical office or referral coordination role (preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and Ontario healthcare referral processes
- Experience using EMR systems (e.g., Accuro, OSCAR, PS Suite, Telus Health)
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with OHIP billing and referral requirements
- Experience working with specialist clinics and hospital referral systems
- Strong customer service skills with a compassionate and professional approach
- Bilingual (English/French or other languages) considered an asset
