Job Overview
Structural Welding Projects is a CWB-certified structural steel fabrication and mobile welding company based in Mississauga, Ontario, serving the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Windsor.
We specialize in structural steel fabrication, bridge rehabilitation, mobile stick welding, and structural reinforcement projects for municipal, commercial, and industrial clients.
We are currently seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to oversee structural steel welding operations on active job sites and in our fabrication facility. The successful candidate will lead welding crews, maintain quality standards, ensure compliance with CWB and CSA requirements, and coordinate daily site activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate certified welders on-site.
- Ensure all welding activities comply with CSA W59, CSA S6, and approved CWB welding procedures
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, welding symbols, and specifications
- Perform visual weld inspections and coordinate third-party inspections when required
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company safety policies
- Monitor productivity, quality, material usage, and equipment condition
- Train, mentor, and support welders, apprentices, and new employees
- Coordinate daily work activities with project managers, site supervisors, and contract administrators
- Prepare daily reports including crew hours, work completed, and material usage
- Coordinate welding activities with crane operations, rigging crews, and other site trades
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining quality workmanship
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of structural steel welding experience
- Previous supervisory or foreman experience leading welding crews
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and field installation
- Thorough understanding of CSA W59 and CSA S6 standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence with reliable transportation
- Comfortable working at heights and on active construction sites
Preferred Qualifications
- CWB Certification to W47.1
- Experience with bridge rehabilitation and infrastructure projects
- Working at Heights Certification
- Elevated Work Platform (Scissor Lift/Boom Lift) Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- WHMIS and other construction safety certifications
Work Schedule
- Full-time position
- 35–44 hours per week
- Day and night shifts depending on project requirements
Typical Shifts
Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 4:00 AM
Overtime may be available.
Candidates must be flexible to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime when required.
