About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Lead Technician to take on a senior field role within our growing team. This position is split roughly 50/50 between hands-on technical work and leading our junior technicians — mentoring, supervising, and guiding them across installations and service calls involving security and alarm systems, camera systems, wireless PtP/PtmP links, coaxial installations, and network cabling. You will be someone who takes pride in the quality of their work and who genuinely enjoys helping others grow. Formal supervisory experience is a strong asset, but if you have the technical credibility and the right attitude, we will coach you through the leadership side.
Key Responsibilities
TECHNICAL (APPROX. 50%)
▸ Install, configure, and commission security/alarm systems, IP camera systems, wireless PtP/PtmP links, and coaxial installations
▸ Deliver consistently high-quality work that sets the standard for the team
▸ Work at heights including tower climbing; operate company vehicles with trailers
▸ Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across all system types
▸ Use hand and power tools; lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs
LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION (APPROX. 50%)
▸ Supervise and mentor junior technicians on-site with hands-on guidance and real-time feedback
▸ Collaborate with management to plan field work, assign tasks, and keep projects on schedule
▸ Review and verify quality of work completed by junior team members at project close-out
▸ Help identify skill gaps and contribute to team training and development
▸ Serve as technical escalation point for field challenges junior techs encounter
▸ Interact professionally with customers, answering questions about our products and services
Qualifications & Experience
REQUIRED
▸ Demonstrated field experience across a majority of: security/alarm, cameras, wireless networking, network cabling, coaxial installations
▸ Comfortable operating company vehicles with trailers and working at heights including towers
▸ Proven track record of high-quality workmanship and attention to detail
▸ Strong communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly to staff and customers
▸ Valid Ontario Class G license with a clean driving record — mandatory
▸ Self-directed and organized, with the ability to manage your time and support others
ASSETS
▸ Previous supervisory, lead, or mentorship experience in a field or trades environment
▸ Familiarity with low-voltage wiring
▸ Experience with DSC alarm systems and IP/analog camera platforms
▸ Working at Heights, tower climbing, boom or scissor-lift certificates
▸ Experience with wireless PtP/PtmP links (Ubiquiti, Cambium, or similar)
▸ Trade diploma in electronics, electrical, or telecom
