We are seeking an experienced Lead Hand / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Technician to join our service team. This is a working leadership role for a technician who takes pride in diagnostics, quality workmanship, and helping drive shop efficiency.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Shop Foreman, assisting with technical direction, and ensuring work moving through the shop meets company quality standards.
This is not a “just turn wrenches” position, it requires leadership, accountability, and the ability to positively influence shop performance.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician (Red Seal or equivalent)
- Valid Alberta CVI (Commercial Vehicle Inspection) license
- Minimum 1 year Daimler truck experience (Freightliner / Western Star preferred)
- Minimum 2 years experience in a lead-hand, senior technician, or leadership-type role
- Strong diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting ability on heavy-duty equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Shop Foreman with daily shop flow, prioritization, and technician coordination
- Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to technicians when required
- Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks
- Complete CVI inspections and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Perform quality inspections on completed work from other technicians and ensure repairs meet company standards before release
- Help drive “Fix It Right the First Time” culture across the shop
- Identify issues early and support efficient repair planning and execution
- Assist in maintaining workflow during peak periods or when the Foreman is unavailable
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive shop environment
What We Are Looking For
- Strong leadership presence on the shop floor (leads by example, not just title)
- Confident decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and commitment to repair quality
- Strong diagnostic mindset (not just parts replacement)
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with technicians and management
- Dependable, accountable, and takes ownership of work outcomes
- Willingness to step up and support the team when required
Important Note About This Role
