Part-Time Maintenance Manager – Beach Acres Resort, Parksville, BC
We are currently seeking a reliable and versatile Part-Time Maintenance Manager to help keep our 56-unit resort running smoothly and to ensure our guests enjoy a positive experience. This hands-on, multifaceted role covers a wide variety of light maintenance tasks across buildings, the pool/spa, outdoor equipment, and guest-facing areas. Position Summary: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring resort operations run efficiently while minimizing any events that could interfere with our guests’ experience. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to problem-solve on the fly, and tact when interacting with guests to keep their stay positive.
Key Responsibilities:
Building & Unit Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and perform basic plumbing repairs and replacements (faucets, shower fixtures, toilets, sinks, and fittings)
- Carry out basic electrical repairs (ceiling and floor lights, space heaters, wall plugs, and switches)
- Painting, touch-ups, drywall repairs, knockdown texture application, and caulking
- Basic carpentry repairs on chairs, tables, and other furniture
- Household appliance troubleshooting, testing, and parts sourcing
- Gas fireplace troubleshooting and basic maintenance
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi and cable issues for guests and liaise with the utility company as needed
Pool & Spa Operations
- Conduct water chemistry readings twice daily to ensure compliance with Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) regulations.
- Perform basic pool equipment maintenance and repairs, including pumps, heaters, pressure tanks, and air handlers
- Manage pool chemical inventory, keep chemical tanks full, and perform backwashes
- Respond to pool-related equipment emergencies
- A pool operator course/training is provided
Outdoor & Recreational Equipment
- Basic maintenance of golf carts, snowblower, and wood splitter
- Regular maintenance and checks on rental bicycles and stand-up paddle boards per schedule
- BBQ and propane tank deliveries and pickups across the resort; seasonal BBQ maintenance and cleaning
- Monitor and maintain propane tank inventory; order propane for units with propane fireplaces as needed
- Prepare firewood for guest sale (monitor inventory, order, split, stack, and deliver bagged wood to the resort office)
Guest Experience & Event Support
- Conference room event setup and teardown
- Carpet cleaning and tile floor cleaning as directed
- Provide friendly, tactful support to guests experiencing maintenance issues
- Liaise with the strata property manager as appropriate
General Maintenance, Inventory & Organization
- Perform regularly scheduled maintenance (e.g., golf cart battery topping, oil changes, dryer vent cleaning)
- Install new furniture, appliances, and beds; dispose of old items appropriately
- Maintain and organize tools; keep maintenance storage areas clean and tidy
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to adapt quickly to changing situations
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
- Customer-service oriented with tact and professionalism when dealing with guests
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft 365 Excel for inventory and tracking purposes
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Physically fit and able to perform maintenance tasks (including lifting up to approximately 50 lbs, working on ladders, and performing duties both indoors and outdoors

Pay: $29.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 26.0 – 28.0 per week
