Overview
We are seeking compassionate and skilled Registered Massage Therapists to join our team for the upcoming busy insurance season. SVNCTUM is the leading wellness clinic for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Downtown Toronto and we prioritize care for this clientele through a trauma-informed lens. The ideal candidate is aligned with our company mission and values to support this population and clientele. This role offers an opportunity to help clients relax, recover, and improve their overall health in a welcoming environment.
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology related to massage therapy, and excellent customer service abilities as well as a warm and inviting presence. Prior education and experience with 2SLGBTQ+ healthcare is preferred but not required, as training will be provided to ensure you deliver exceptional care.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional massage therapy sessions tailored to individual client needs, including relaxation, therapeutic, and injury recovery massages
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace in compliance with health and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their concerns and explain treatment options
- Document client progress and treatment details accurately in records
- Provide excellent customer service by creating a welcoming and relaxing environment
- Ensure a safe environment is maintained through the correct usage of pronouns and queer-sensitive terminology
- Stay informed about new techniques and industry best practices through ongoing education and training
Experience
- Prior experience as a massage therapist is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to massage therapy enhances the ability to communicate effectively with clients and healthcare providers
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to listen attentively and respond empathetically
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and build rapport with clients
- Education from an accredited massage therapy program is required, along with relevant licensing and registration with the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario)
- Additional modalities such as post-operative scar massage, hot stones, acupuncture, cupping, fascial stretch therapy, and Thai massage are a welcome bonus
