Civil Superintendent — MOTI Infrastructure Project (Quesnel, BC)
RAM Excavating Limited is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to lead field operations on a BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) project in the Cariboo region. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can take ownership of the field side of the project from mobilization through completion.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day running of the site — directing crews, coordinating equipment and subcontractors, managing production, and delivering the work safely, on schedule, and to MOTT specification. The successful candidate will run the field operations portion of the project end to end and be the senior on-site authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews, equipment operators, and subcontractors to meet production targets
- Plan and sequence daily and weekly work to keep the project on schedule and on budget
- Ensure all work is constructed in accordance with MOTT Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, contract drawings, and approved methods
- Manage and enforce environmental compliance — instream work windows, fisheries/wildlife timing restrictions, erosion and sediment control, and environmental monitoring requirements
- Uphold and drive RAM's safety program (COR-certified); lead site orientations, FLHAs, toolbox talks, and incident response
- Coordinate traffic control, materials deliveries, and staging to maintain workflow
- Track quantities and production, identify changed conditions, and support the PM with documentation (daily reports, as-builts, change notices)
- Liaise professionally with the MOTI representative, prime/GC, consultants, and environmental monitors
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Superintendent or Senior Foreman on civil/heavy construction projects — bridge, road, culvert, or earthworks
- Strong working knowledge of MOTT specifications and public infrastructure contract requirements
- Experience managing environmentally sensitive work and instream timing windows an asset
- Solid crew leadership, scheduling, and production management skills
- Excellent safety record and commitment to a COR-based safety culture
- Ability to read and work from civil drawings and specifications
- Valid BC driver's licence; willingness to work in the Cariboo Interior
