Position Summary
The Junior CNC Operator supports manufacturing operations by operating CNC equipment under supervision, performing routine machining tasks, and conducting basic quality inspections. This role assists with material handling, production documentation, and equipment upkeep while developing CNC machining skills and contributing to safe, efficient, and quality-focused production operations.
This role works out of our 7883 Edgar Industrial Dr, Red Deer, AB location.

Position Specific Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines under the direction of a CNC Operator, Lead Hand, or Supervisor.
- Load and unload parts and materials from CNC machines.
- Perform repetitive machining operations in accordance with work instructions and approved procedures.
- Read and follow work orders, job travelers, and basic drawings.
- Verify dimensions of machined parts using gauges and measuring equipment.
- Perform routine quality inspections and report any nonconforming products to a supervisor.
- Assist with machine setup and tooling changes as directed.
- Assist in staging materials, tooling, gauges, and supplies for upcoming jobs.
- Complete required production and work order documentation accurately.
- Update production boards and communicate production issues to supervisors.
- Perform daily housekeeping and maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company 5S standards.
- Participate in preventative maintenance activities as directed.
- Report equipment, tooling, material, or safety concerns to a supervisor.
- Learn company machining, quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures through on-the-job training.
- Work effectively with machinists, CNC operators, and management to support production goals.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or machine shop experience considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn CNC machining operations.
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and basic drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently after training and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to learn new specifications, procedures, and manufacturing processes through training and experience.
Physical Demands
- Periodic heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity required to load materials, change tooling, and operate machine controls.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and material handling.
