About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,

Under the supervision of a Registered Physician, the Physician Assistant (PA) supports the Physician as the principle
medical‑decision maker, meeting the needs of the patients by treating immediate illness, guiding patients through
recovery, advising them on healthier choices, and educating them on disease prevention. The supervising Physician
is also responsible for the direction of the Physician Assistant's activities. All PA activity will take place within the
physician‑patient relationship, whether actual or imminent. The goal of PAs is to provide health care to patients
having first established a partnership of trust with the supervising physician that is then extended to the patients of
the physician's practice.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PA's are highly skilled providers that have the knowledge, skills, and experience to work as part of a physician led
team in a variety of clinical settings. In general, PA's will have the skills and experience to deal with medical
emergencies, specialized care and everyday health care needs. Depending on the agreement between the physician
and the PA, activities may include such tasks as:
* conducting patient interviews
* taking patient histories
* completing physical examinations
* performing selected diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
* ordering and interpreting patient laboratory and radiological results
* counselling on preventive health care
* other task within the supervising physician's scope of practice that the physician deems the PA qualified to complete
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
* Graduate of an accredited PA program
* Unencumbered registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
* Ontario has defined the scope of practice of a physician assistant as "under the supervision of a registered
physician, the practice of medicine in accordance with the College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario's Policy on
delegation".

Salary Range: $49.500 to 61.870
