Position Overview:
Participation Lodge Grey-Bruce is seeking a Kitchen Helper / Environmental Services Worker to join our dedicated team. This cross-trained position provides support in both our Dietary Services and Environmental Services departments, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a variety of responsibilities and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
In this role, you will assist with meal preparation, food service, dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, housekeeping, laundry services, and facility cleaning. You will play an important role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of the individuals we support by helping to maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and infection prevention throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate is dependable, team-oriented, physically active, and committed to providing exceptional service while contributing to a positive living environment for residents and staff alike. Duties
Kitchen Responsibilities
- Assist the Cook with meal and snack preparation
- Support meal service for supported individuals
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Receive, stock, and rotate food supplies following food safety practices
- Assist with grocery pick-up and deliveries using a Lodge vehicle
- Support special events and catering functions
- Pick up Cook shifts during vacations or absences when trained
Environmental Services Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident bedrooms, common areas, washrooms, offices, and facility spaces
- Perform routine housekeeping and deep-cleaning tasks
- Complete laundry duties including washing, drying, folding, sorting, and storing linens and clothing
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility
- Operate floor care equipment as trained
- Restock cleaning and hygiene supplies
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling
- Follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards and workplace health and safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, housekeeping, laundry, hospitality, health care, or environmental services is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Reliable, flexible, and dependable
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow dietary requirements, food safety practices, and cleaning procedures
Certifications & Requirements
- Minimum G2 Ontario Driver's License required
- Safe Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- IPAC for Non-Clinical Staff (or willingness to obtain)
- CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (or willingness to complete employer-provided training)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to complete employer-provided training)
- Small Drinking Water Systems Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Screening)
- Satisfactory Health Screening upon hire (including a 2-step tuberculosis test)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and reach throughout the shift
- Ability to perform physically demanding housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen duties

Pay: $24.20-$25.33 per hour
