Facilities Manager / Building Supervisor

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager / Building Supervisor to oversee facility operations, maintenance activities, vendor management, capital projects, fleet management, and building services. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility operations while supervising maintenance staff in a unionized environment.
Key Responsibilities

Manage facility operations, maintenance programs, utilities, vendor contracts, and departmental budgets to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery service.

Review, approve, and monitor departmental expenses, including utilities, vendor invoices, maintenance costs, and facility-related expenditures.

Lead major maintenance and capital improvement projects from planning and budgeting through execution and completion.

Monitor contractor and vendor performance to ensure compliance with service agreements, quality standards, and organizational expectations.

Oversee the maintenance and operation of organizational fleet vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Supervise facility and maintenance staff, including scheduling, workload allocation, vacation approvals, overtime management, performance reviews, training, and professional development.

Manage employee relations and performance matters within a unionized work environment.

Monitor and prioritize maintenance work requests to ensure timely completion and adherence to service standards.

Conduct regular facility inspections and safety audits, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions as required.

Coordinate maintenance and repair services for specialized equipment when necessary.

Oversee inventory management, purchasing, and distribution of facility-related supplies, equipment, and materials.

Evaluate procurement processes and recommend improvements to strengthen accountability, efficiency, and cost control.

Support organizational initiatives related to facility optimization, service delivery improvements, and third-party service management.

Participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent facility-related matters
Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Facilities Management, Building Operations, Engineering Technology, Property Management, or a related field.

5 to 7 years of progressive facilities management, building operations, or maintenance leadership experience.

Experience managing budgets, contractors, maintenance projects, and facility operations.

Previous supervisory experience within a unionized environment is strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of building systems, health and safety regulations, preventive maintenance practices, and vendor management.

Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office, and facility reporting tools.

Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
