Job Summary
The Fireplace Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting new product development in testing, production assembly verification, and prototype builds. This role works closely with the Engineering Development team to assess mechanical integrity, product operating parameters, combustion and thermal performance, ensuring all products operate safely and remain compliant with prescribed regulatory standards and local codes.
Responsibilities
- Build prototypes and report construction and performance assessments
- Test prototypes for functionality and compliancy with regulatory standards
- Support Customer Service department with technical guidance on installation and resolving field issues
- Maintain and ensure that all lab equipment complies with calibration requirements.
- Write technical reports
- Able to work independently and well with Research & Development team
Qualifications
- College Diploma and/ or Degree in Engineering Technology
- 3-5 years of experience with gas appliance design installation, or repair
- Trades experience and proficiency (carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or metal fabrication) is an asset
- High School Diploma with 3-5 years of related work experience and understanding of combustion and thermodynamics
- Experience with regulatory testing of gas appliances (ETL, UL, CSA)
- Proficiency with NIST calibrated scientific equipment (dataloggers, thermocouples, flow meters, pitot tubes, barometers, manometers, magnehelic, wet-meter, anemometer, multimeters, hipot, and gas analyzers)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook), Windows, and general computing
