Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathes to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Experience is required, along with proficiency in using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Duties
- Operate manual lathe machines to produce high-quality components in accordance with blueprints and technical drawings.
- Set up machines by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces, ensuring proper alignment and calibration.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing specifications to ensure accurate production.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on lathes to maintain optimal machine performance.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes, welding, or other manufacturing tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following safety protocols and lean manufacturing principles.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, during daily operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating manual lathe machines in a metal machine shop
- Mechanical knowledge of machining processes
- Ability to perform basic math calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
- Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, assembly techniques, welding, and power tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical capability to handle materials and operate machinery safely for extended periods.
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
