Residential Support Worker
The Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is currently recruiting a Residential Support Worker for its Timmins office.
In keeping with CMHA Cochrane Timiskaming Branch’s Mission, Vision, and Values, the Residential Support Workers (RSWs) in the Housing Program use a person- centred approach to support individuals with serious mental health and addictions concerns who reside in CMHA-CTs supportive residential housing. The RSWs recognize and respect the individuality and uniqueness of each client, including their needs, values, beliefs, and choices.
Qualifications:
1. Secondary education or lived experience;
2. ASIST training;
3. Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty, and homelessness, as well as the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health;
4. Strong crisis and suicide intervention skills;
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
6. The ability to engage and work with a broad age group of clients with diverse and complex concerns.
