Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, acts as resource person regarding academic and administrative policies and procedures. Resolves problems within area of responsibility. Consults relevant documentation and liaises with appropriate internal and external resource persons to obtain and provide
information on diverse and complex issues. Provides administrative and secretarial support for administrative and student affairs activities, specifically concerning matters arising from the Curriculum Committee. Instrumental in the coordination of the course scheduling process and supports Human Resources with the hiring, onboarding, and provision of ongoing support for instructors.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
➢ Corresponds with course lecturers regarding resources and scheduling for upcoming teaching assignments
➢Prepares and modifies the class schedule, in collaboration with various Law units
➢ Facilitates the collection of course information (course descriptions, course outlines, etc.) from instructors, and prepares documentation for instructor support (e.g. Instructor Manual, Course Outlines)
➢ Coordinates with Human Resources for the hiring and onboarding of course sessional lecturers in compliance with MCLIU regulations
➢Acts as administrative resource to the Curriculum Committee, as a subsidiary to the Faculty Council
➢Oversees room bookings for courses and liaise with internal and external departments to ensure availability
➢ Facilitates course and program changes on behalf of the Associate Dean, Academic via current SCTP/APC processes, including collaboration across faculties for changes affecting Joint Programs
➢ Assigns and fulfills shifts for SAO Team in various student-facing capacities (e.g. drop-in window, main resource accounts)
➢Prepares and delegates course scheduling tasks to Student Affairs Coordinators, including course creation and
room bookings in Banner, as well as entries into the DCU. Reviews Coordinator’s work throughout scheduling cycle and assigns work for additional changes, helping as necessary.
➢ Assists with outgoing exchange nominations
➢Facilitates applications and scheduling for courses with peer teaching elements (e.g. Tutorial Leaders, Group Assistants and Student-Intiated Seminars
➢ Supports Student Affairs Coordinators with shared responsibilties, includingcourse registration, updating of student records, and communications with students and instructors.
